Rejuvinate your notebook by mouthshut
Bought this HDD to expand my T43p’s measly 60GB space. Dropped it into a 2nd HDD adapter for IBM thinkpad ultrabay slim. No hassle installation with formating done WinXP’s built in HDD partioting and formating options. Since then copied the bulkiest folder to this freeing up space from the bootup disk. Loving it. Almost noiseless even in a quiet room at night. Must appreciate the concept of keeping of the disk during powerup and power down to minimize damage probability.

Will update as it goes. Must say it extended the life of my notebook which otherwise is perfectly fine.

Amazon hasn’t changed their ad to show that this isn’t in stock, so just a heads-up… I ordered this March 14 2008 and on March 20th received an email giving an estimated arrival date of April 1st through April 7th.

As for the 5-star rating, I already have a few of these and they’re nice drives. My only complaint is that they’re not 500G.

This 250Gb drive replaced the original 80Gb drive in my G4 PB. The drive affords plenty of extra storage space and by thus adds some extra life to the machine. The reviewer who mentioned that the drive is noisy must have gotten a defective unit: my drive is as quiet as it could be - I can barely hear it in a quiet room and absolutely can not hear it if there is any background noise such as office or lab chatter. The old drive was much smaller and noisier. Very worthwhile upgrade!

I bought this drive, the WD2500BEVE 250GB PATA disk drive, for less than $130 and used it to replace the Seagate 160GB drive in my IBM Thinkpad T42. To perform the transfer, I used a drive tray that permits a second hard disk to be added to the Thinkpad and Acronis Disk Director software to copy the partitions.

The speed of this drive seems at least as fast as the Seagate it replaced. It is virutally silent and was barely warm after copying all of my partitions. Considering the price and 3-year warranty, it is a remarkable bargain in storage for your laptop.

Highly recommended.
